Player Ratings & Comments - Sunderland fail to hang on to lead, a familiar plot!

On the balance of overall play, I think we can say Sunderland were the better side. Fleetwood struggled to create and the goal they scored was fortuitous. Let's not allow ourselves to be distracted from the clear downward trend we are in.

In the last seven league games, Sunderland have managed two wins; both of which were against teams with ten men and both reliant on penalities. Getting the rub of the green, in short. Now some questionable penalty decisions are going against us, and we can't score enough goals to win games. We can't impose ourselves on opposition defences, we can't create enough opportunities, and the few we do create we can't score enough of.

There comes a point where it can no longer be down to bad luck, and it's now where the manager has to take responsibility. Based on recent performances and results - it feels like Phil Parkinson's Sunderland will be even less successful than Jack Ross' Sunderland; and we all know what happened to him.
